Description:

Wild Matters provided national coordination services for the design and implementation of the National Weeds Spread Prevention Initiative, aimed to progress Goal 1 of the Australian Weed Strategy (2007) and components of the Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity relating to invasive plants. 

Services provided:

  • Improved communication between all partners, (national, state/territory and local governments, NRM bodies and industry.
  • A communication plan.
  • Increased awareness of the importance of weed spread prevention, surveillance and early detection. promoted existing weed spread prevention measures
  • Through participatory consultation with the Australian Weeds Committee and state and territory weed authorities, Wild Matters drafted the National Invasive Plant Surveillance Framework.
